Katie Tracy - Author, Speaker, and Certified Professional Organizer®
I've had a knack for organizing for as long as I can remember. My childhood bedroom was only 72 square feet and I used every opportunity (and inch of space!) to rearrange, reorganize, and reinvent my small space.
I started my professional organizing business, Simple Spaces, in 2010 and worked with individuals and families to help clear out the "stuff" that cluttered their homes and lives. While doing that work I learned that organizing is about so much more than just the stuff. It is about relationships, emotions, the past, and the future. And I learned that the stuff in our homes weighs on us not just physically, but mentally too. My passion now is to connect the worlds of professional organizing and mental health. My aim is to share the value of professional organizing with the mental health field and introduce professional organizers to the ways that mental health impacts organizing work.
I have a Bachelors degree in Sociology and a Masters in Human Resource Management. I am an active member of the National Association of Productivity and Organizing Professionals (NAPO) and the Northern New Jersey Chapter as well as the Institute for Challenging Disorganization (ICD). In 2018 I received the prestigious designation of Certified Professional Organizer®, an elite certification held by only a small percentage of professional organizers. I share a simple life in New Jersey with my husband and our young daughters.
